"Long wait but good care at A&E"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I visited Lincoln county hospital a&e early on morning in December. There were 2 people in the waiting room when I arrived.

After about 30 mins I was seen by the triage nurse who said they were very busy and the next shift of doctors would start at 8am and would see me Asap. The department was very busy and I spoke to the receptionist at about 11 o'clock who didn't realise how long I had been there and I saw a doctor shortly afterwards.

He was very efficient and helpful and I couldn't fault the treatment I got. He organised a CT scan, blood tests and an ecg that were all done in 2 hours. I left the department with a clean bill of health and even though I had been there 6.5 hrs I was happy and relieved with the outcome.

They were very short staffed but had there been someone on that side of the dept the crowds wouldn't have built up as they did.

Hello - and thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback - I am very sorry you had such a long wait but thank you too for your evident patience! You are right that having someone on the waiting room side checking on patients would minimise this and even if staffing is short it is important that someone regularly checks. I am glad that all was ok for you despite the long wait.

Thank you again
