"Long wait for a hearing aid at Furness General"

About: Furness General Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

On visiting FGH on a Saturday morning (seeming this was to attempt to reduce the excessive backlog of patients on the ENT Dept list) at the end of September 2006 I saw the specialist, who after checking the results of the hearing tests, said I needed a hearing aid for both ears. The Audio Technician had created moulds of both ear apertures at the time of the tests so off I toddled to take my wife shopping, thinking it would probably be some three to four months before actually getting the aids. In the meantime my wife and family continue to accuse me of not paying attention when they say some thing and I'm getting fed-up of saying sorry to people when I can't make out what they are saying. Anyway to cut a long story short it's now April 2007 (six months later), and despite leaving my details on an answer machine at FGH I am still waiting for some sort of communication from FGH as to how much longer I have to wait. Can anyone help me??

Have you tried contacting the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at FGH? They are there to help with problems like this. They can be reached on 01539 795812.
