"Kept Waiting"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

My appointment was for 10:35 on 18th De at Andover WMH. I arrived and checked in 15 mins early. I was asked to wait to be called and after 10 mins was called and led through to the consulting waiting area. I sat opposite a room 16. An elderly couple were also waiting to be seen and were called in not long after into a different doctors room. The couple came out after about 10 mins. The time was just after 10:35. There was during my wait quite a lot of activity in the corridor. One doctor was in and out of the others room a couple of times and Nursing Assistants ( (pale coloured tops) were turning up with cups of drink. Five of them went into one of the doctors room. Then the other doctor came out, passsed by me and went in to the doctors room, came out, went back to theirroom and then returned to the other doctors room. All of these prople were taking a morning break and I could here them chatting. Some 15 mins later, fed up with waiting, I decided to leave. I informed the nurse who had called me down originally and explained that I was not prepared to wait any longer while the Drs were on a break. They said that the doctor was with a patient but I contradicted them and left. Now I don't object to their break, God knows they deserve it. But it would make sense to allow for these breaks in the booking schedule and it would have been polite if the doctor had explained that they were having a break and would I mind waiting but no, I was ignored. I make a point of being early for appointments as well as being polite, considerate and courteous. Unfortunate the doctors predecessor was quite rude in their manner with me but that may be down to the fact that they were about to reture; though nothing excuses rudeness, does it. I feel that I was ignored by this doctor though it was quite obvious that I was their next patient. I am dependant on others to take me out and those people have often to change their day to accommodate me. So I do not feel happy at keeping them needlessy waiting as was the case today. I understand and accept that waiting times can be affected by emergencies and extended appointments by patients but this was not the case today and any other cause given in response to this will be equally unacceptable.
