Last Friday I had to call the 111 service as I was not feeling too well. I was already taking antibiotics for a urinary tract infection and wasn’t sure what would happen if I continued to feel unwell over the weekend when my own GP was not available.
I called 111 and they took down all my details and then put me through to a doctor. This doctor thought I should be seen by a doctor at the St Hellier’s unit attached to the A&E department. I was given an appointment and was seen between 7: 50 and 8: 00pm. They gave me a good check over and thought the antibiotics were perhaps taking time to take effect and to give them a couple of days. It was very reassuring even though I was not feeling too good.
