About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Well what can i say,it's so easy in the heat of the moment ,to rant regarding a bad experience, which i must say I did a few months ago...but on the 12/12/14 I attended to the day surgery ward at RBH,was fully informed, prepared and ready.for my operation.I was then brought to recovery post-op and cared for,and i do reiterate 'cared' for by two young male ODPs (break reliefs for each other) who obviously really enjoy what they do because it showed! My op took a little longer than normal,& when asked to speak with the surgeon as to reasons this was fully accommodated putting me at ease. I then transferred to ward C18 for an overnight stay as I had a drain in, and even though the qualified staff nurse had 18 pts to care for including me, my obs were done, I was painfree and the lovely HCAs brought me countless drinks and TLC... how did they manage is what I ask?? There were acutely ill people there too.

Dear Anonymous Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of our Day Surgery ward and C18 at Royal Blackburn, and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I will make sure your appreciation is passed onto the team and I will try and track down the two ODP's who you mention in such glowing terms. I am very pleased to hear that your recent experience with us was really positive, especially after you mention a previous visit to us that wasn't quite so good; and thank-you for taking the time to comment again on such a positive note too If you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that made this such a good visit for you we would really value this so that we can try to make it like this for every patient visiting our hospitals and services. You can either contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 734471/ 01254 733704 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. If you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk Many thanks again, best wishes for a Happy Christmas and New Year Wendy Stobbs, Patient Experience Facilitator
