"Surgical Extraction with overnight on ward 90"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

I just want to say the staff were lovely on ward 90. They treated me with respect, and did their best to calm me when I had an anxiety attack before surgery (guy working with anaesthetist really helped) However I had a couple of issues. The first was, after surgery, I was left about 3 hours overdue for pain relief. This could not be helped as staff were very busy. Also I sustained an injury during my surgery caused by a malfunction in equipment, a burn to my inside cheek that required stitches. On the morning I was discharged they didn't have down that my steroids needed doubling, or that I even took thyroxine, requiring them to get a doctor to authorize me to take my own meds. Finally I was told that I needed a follow up appointment the next week to check surgical burn, but I was discharged without an appointment time. I've tried 3 days in a row to find out my appointment time, but never got a call back after telephone conversations 3 times. Lovely hospital, fantastic staff, just lack of communication.
