"Rude obstetrician"

About: Basildon University Hospital

I am writing this review as I have not been impressed with the ante natal services so far. This is my second pregnancy. Due to breech position of the baby, I had to go through c section, and I must admit it was a very smooth and pleasant experience. (Not in UK) Now after 6 years being pregnant for the second time, I was referred to see an obstetrician at Basildon hospital. When I walked in, he seemed too busy trying to scribble on my notes than actually go through my history. He asked me if I wanted a c section and I said yes as I previously had one and I prefer to walk through the same safe way than going through natural one. Well very rudely he straight away said ''no you can't have one'' just because you had one before. I requested to see the policy and he refused just by saying '' We can't give a c-section to every woman who comes and asks one, it is too expensive for the NHS''. Well I felt embarrassed and intimidated as, I fully pay my taxes and NIC part of paying for the NHS, and I didn't just woke up without any reason demanding something I am not entitled to. Appalling service. Doctors are meant to give the Hippocratic oath swearing to care and uphold specific ethical standards not make patients feel intimidated and uncomfortable. So now I am referred to Birth Choices, let's see what an experience this will be... By the way, now looking once I go on maternity leave to travel abroad to give birth as I am absolutely shocked and don't feel comfortable having my baby at Basildon Hospital.
