"Elderly lady's care"

About: University Hospital Llandough / Older people's healthcare

(as other),

I was at Llandough Hospital today waiting on my appointment, I was sat in the entrance

by reception, opposite was an Elderly Lady in a wheelchair with who I assumed to be her carer...... The carer told me they were waiting for an ambulance and had been there for half and hour, .....the Elderly Lady seemed to be very cold with a blanket wrapped around her but it seem she was in alot of discomfort due to how cold it was..... I then spent another half hour sat in my car waiting for my appointment and then made my way back to reception, only to find that the old lady and the carer still waiting for their transport, ..... I told the carer that this was not good enough and that the old Lady was suffering with the cold, the carer did nothing, so I went up to reception and told them that the Elderly lady was freezing and could they get her another blanket, they replied that the blankets were in the wards and not in reception, so I said perhaps you could go get her one as I believed she was at risk.

This is something that both Carer and reception could plainly see but did nothing about this until I spoke, by which time I was ready to explode with anger.....It seems to me that not enough care is being taken to take care of our Elderly, having to wait so long for transport and not enough care being taken for her welfare God Help me when I have to depend on others to make sure that I am warm and comfortable in the reception area of a Hospital.
