"Kidney stones"

About: Broomfield Hospital

After waking up in incredible pain, an ambulance was called. When the paramedic arrived I told her my symptoms and after a brief feel around my left side said it was probably trapped wind as their were no vital organs in the area. Luckily my husband insisted she call an ambulance, only to be good it's going to take a while because they're changing shifts? Absolutely shocking. Finally got to a&e and was seen to by the most unsympathetic nurse I've ever come across. The nurse ordering me to give her my arm, rough and rude. She finally got a line in but ive never seen anyone so begrudging to help. Long story short, I was in for 3 days. Moved from a single room to a ward. One of the other patients was elderly and needed a fair amount of attention but was ignored throughout my stay there. She messed her bed and was left to lie in it, she was calling out in pain but nobody came, when they did they were rude and aggressive toward her. The only time they were civil was when her family visited. The nurses were begrudging, the porters were careless and I was bumped through doorways and corridors when going to and from x ray and I left in no better state than when I got there apart from being completely traumatised. As soon as I got out I booked into private hospital, but others wouldn't have that option. I was told I'd hear from NHS 3 weeks later but still nothing. Good job I sorted myself out. I have always been proud that we have the NHS in this country but now feel ashamed at the way people were treated. The nurses weren't busy, a lot of the time standing/sitting around chatting and having a laugh. Annoyed at being interrupted. The consultants I saw didn't resolve my problem and left me in pain with no idea what was going on.
