"not being told anything"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

my father came in for a operation for bowel cancer of which i believe was a success. when i went to visit him after his op he was sitting up talking to us . he later on got pneumonia and became ill and was unable to come round and was just laying in his bed. i ask a nurse if this happened often the nurse said no the doctors dont know what is wrong with him .i later asked the staff nurse the same question and she told me the complete opposite and he would come round in the next few days . two weeks later he was moved to the west Cumberland hospital the staff there came and told us everything we needed to know and my father is coming on leaps and bound . the staff there seem to have a lot more time for their patients and i really dont understand why this hospital is being run down the staff there seem to be a lot better than at Carlisle .i still dont know why i was told two different accounts but it makes me think that something went wrong and was kept from us.

Thank you for contacting us regarding the recent experience of your father, I am sorry that it has been such an anxious time for you. There are clearly some outstanding queries which are concerning you. Please contact our PALS service, with your contact details, if you would like to follow this up further. They can be contacted on 01228 814008 between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday, or by sending an email to PALSCIC@ncuh.nhs.uk. Please note that your father would need to give his consent for you to follow up on his behalf. With best wishes for your father’s on going recovery. Alison Patient Experience
