"A/E waiting times"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

After yet another visit to a/e on a sat night still find no changes in waiting time for a patient with late stage dementia. 5 hours in total waiting on a freezing corridor outside room 1. Why are there not seperate waiting areas instead of having to wait amongst the usual weekend revellers. Patients with dementia should not have to encounter even more stress having to wait this amount of time during the early hours of the morning. Time to become dementia friendly in a/e as well on the wards.

Response from Bradford Royal Infirmary

This is a very disappointing experience and I am sorry for any distress this caused. We are very proud of the work we have done in the hospital to improve the experience for patients with dementia. Your comments highlight that there is still more improvement work to be done, specifically in the Accident and Emergency department. I will pass your comments onto the lead dementia nurse; Mrs Danielle Woods. If you would like to discuss your thoughts please contact the PALS department on 01274 364021 at Bradford Royal Infirmary or 01274 365853 at St. Luke’s Hospital. The text phone number for deaf people is 01274 382580 at Bradford Royal Infirmary. You can also email pals@bthft.nhs.uk. Thank you.
