"Visit to A&E"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

Had to visit A&E on a busy Saturday due to a minor accident suffered at home. Visited local pharmacy first, who said I would need A&E. Bit embarrassed to go to emergency dept with something not life threatening. First stop, lovely, friendly, smiley receptionist (what a difference that makes!) followed by reassuring, kind triage nurse and nurse practitioner. Finally, patched up by the loveliest, most patient and good humoured HCA. She was happy to explain all the dressings and what to do if anything changed. The whole place was calm and professional and made you fell safe. Thanks to all.

Dear Happy

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our Emergency Department.

It is commendable of you to consider the nature of your injury and seek advice from the pharmacist in the first instance.

I am pleased to hear that once you arrived in A&E you were greeted by welcoming receptionists and triage nurse.

It is always our aim to welcome and triage patients as swiftly and smoothly as possible. We also aim to keep patients informed about the treatments they are having so it is good to hear that the HCA shared the information with you in a kind and professional manner that helped you understand your dressings.

Thank you also for noting how calm and reassuring the environment was.

I will share your kind word with the Emergency team who I know will appreciate them.

Kind regards and I wish you well for the future.

Sue Mellor
