"Long waiting list"

About: Halton Clinic / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

I had to wait for 10 weeks for treatment and then was sent to Halton Clinic which was difficult to reach if I did not have a lift. I passed another centre on the way. They told me they had a shorter waiting list than the clinic I had to attend. I was not given any choice of venue or time of appointment. I was expected to attend at 8.30am and because we didn’t know how quickly I would get there I was 15 minutes early and was told by a member of staff that I couldn’t enter without permission of the physiotherapist.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Halton Clinic. I am sorry to hear that you had to wait 10 weeks to be seen.

The musculoskeletal and physiotherapy service has recently been re-locating some venues in the east area of Leeds. Whilst this relocation was taking place this did lead to higher waiting times than we would usually have liked.

Patients are usually offered the first available appointment with the shortest waiting time. If this appointment isn't convenient patients are then given a choice of venue and time. I am sorry if this wasn't explained to you when you were referred for treatment.

Unfortunately, there is only one treatment room at Halton Clinic. Patients do, therefore, have to wait outside to be called in by a physiotherapist as there may be another patient receiving treatment in the room.

Please accept our apologies once again for the length of time you had to wait and thank you for sharing your experience.
