"Thank you"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I just wanted to say thank you to the team involved in our care on Sunday 16th November. We had planned a non complicated birth at Saint Mary's birth centre and we very nearly managed it. Unfortunately after a few complications we were transferred to LGH. After the ambulance ride (which was unfortunately separate from my husband) I was very anxious and scared on arrival with you. Your whole team were excellent, ready and waiting and so reassuring and calming until my husband arrived. A special thank you to the doctor for delivering our son (who proved a little stubborn) and for explaining everything to my husband and I as your were doing it even though I can imagine how stressful your job can be and even when the delivery plan had to change from suction cup to forceps. Thank you also for your care and concern after the delivery. Also thank you to the midwife for being there throughout the whole delivery process and firmly but compassionately guiding us through the whole event (I'm sorry I got a little grumpy when you took the gas and air from me!) Thank you for being so happy and positive even though you were at the end of your shift after a very busy weekend. Thank you also to another midwife for her care that evening and for help settling me into the ward overnight . Thanks again

Dear Emma, Thank you for sharing your birthing experience with us. Although it didnt quite go to plan, it sounds like you were very well cared for by the team. We have passed your comments onto senior midwife, Joan to share with the wider team. If you want to say a special thanks to a particular staff member or the whole team, you can nominate them for a Caring at its Best award via our website http://www.leicestershospitals.nhs.uk/aboutus/our-purpose-strategy-and-values/caring-at-its-best-awards/public-nomination-form/ Merry Christmas, we hope you enjoy the first one with the little one!
