"Very Impressed"

About: The Whittington Hospital

I visited this hospital with my mum recently as she needs to have cataract surgery. This wasa not our first choice...however, on the day, we were very impressed by all the staff, the clinic was running late, we were told this upfront and given a pager so that we could go and get a drink. All staff treated my mum with absolute respect & dignity. They kept us well informed as to what was happening etc. Parking was a bit pricy...but you cant have it all. Mt only issue now is that we were told my mum would get a letter within two weeks giving her a date for pre-assessment - that was four weeks ago and we haven't heard anything yet. I have tried to call both numbers that are stated on the website, both just ring until they ring off. Would like to know when my mum is going to have surgery as she is elderly and nervous, has heart problems and needs time to prepare for it! So...if you could just answer the phone in Ophthalmology...I would appreciate it. I am a little suprised at the CQC result - I thought you would easily reach every standard...but 4/5 is better than most..so be proud of yourseves...you don't have much to change!

Thank you very much for your feedback - we hope your Mum is feeling better after her surgery. We will certainly pass your feedback onto the ophthalmology team. If you continue to have difficulty getting through on the phone, please get in touch with our patient advice and liaison service on 020 7288 5551.
