"Utter chaos"

About: The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I went for an outpatient appt. at Stanmore Orthopaedic Hosp. and was told I had the first appt. at 08:30. I was not seen till nearly 10:00 and my consultant had not turned up so I was seen by a Registrar. He straight away said you need an X-ray, why wasn't I told this at the beginning. Went to X-ray, packed. Waited till gone 11:00 then trundled all the way back to Outpatients. Saw Registrar again, and straight away was told I needed total knee replacement. He only looked at one of the X-rays, then I was sent away and told I would have to wait another 2 months to get an op to look inside the knee. I then went to a pr-op room and was informed they are too busy, short staffed, I will have to come back again. I left the hospital after 12:00 after supposedly having the first appt of the day.

To top it all everyone ignored all the signs regarding no mobile phone usage. Everyone seemed to be talking or texting.

Overall it felt like being in a third world hospital.
