"Breast lump screening"

About: Salisbury District Hospital

The first time I came into the hospital (internal scan) nothing was explained and the specialist was rude to me, considering it was such a personal thing. I left the hospital praying I'd never have to go back. I generally hate hospitals as it is. On this occasion however, I went in for a mammogram, I was greeted in medical /surgical at 1.50 pm on the 20th of november by the matron, whom ignored me and was quite rude, I was petrified I had cancer and assumed it was all going to happen again. After her, every member of staff I met was amazing. The Dr was wonderful and cheery, I then went to get my breast checked in the Xray room and was met by 5 lovely ladies who were so wonderful and put me straight at ease, they did a biopsy, I felt absolutely no pain. Considering I have panic attacks I was ready to freak out any minute, but I was so comfortable in their care, it didn't even cross my mind, we talked, they explained every single step, at no point was I afraid or in pain, almost a pleasant experience. Even with the threat of cancer on the horizon, I would not blink twice at the thought of having to go back again.I also went in for a friends appointment the next day and asked the american speaking receptionist at medical/surgical for a stitch plaster, she went and found me one immediately. Thank you so much. I would definitely like them to know.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experiences at Salisbury District Hospital. We were sorry to read that your first visit did not meet your expectations, and appreciate how anxious you must have been when you came back last week. Hearing how well you felt you were cared for will be uplifting for the team and it will be a pleasure to pass on your thanks.
