"Children's A&E to be avoided at all costs"

About: Kingston Hospital

If you really love and care for your baby and it happens to be Sunday and your loved little ones temperature jumps to above 39 after a few days of worsening cough, vomiting, the last place to take your baby would be Kingston a&e hospital. We have come back devastated by the rudeness, incompetent and careless attitude by the major staff. They seamed not to care that our 8-month old was in pain and that the symptoms were of a severe tonsillitis (which was confirmed by a gp after a three hour wait, while all other much older kids who seamed much healthier too were seen much ahead of us). They thought initially "it was just a cold" according to an assessing nurse and little baby was put all the way down the waiting list as a non priority. While waiting she kept feeling worse every minute, we could feel her temperature going up every minute however when we asked we could be seen sooner (and doctors started seeing older patients who had arrived much later than us) we were threatened we would be asked to leave!! With an ill, feverish 8-month on hand!!! When the gp finally saw us( the only medical representative who we are grateful to for her professionalism) she immediately diagnosed tronsillites complicated by a viral flu. Baby's temperature was shooting back up to 39. We went back to the rude nurses to get the antibiotics that the GP had prescribed, and asked if we could get paracetamol as the temperature was rocketing and the baby was nearly unconscious after dehydration, long wait, infection.. Us asking for something as little as that to help the tiny girl feel at least a bit better by the time she would get home, was met by "oh but we can't help you anymore, the GP has seen you, you are now discharged"... It took nearly an hour after asking to see the manager to finally get our antibiotics and the paracetamol. When asking for more help, and raising the awareness that the baby's situation is rapidly worsening, we were asked to leave!! Even with fever, without antibiotics... We brought the ill girl home where we've been struggling to get her temperarue down for the past two hours as it has gone up to 40 and she's feeling the worst now in the past four days, after coming back from a hospital with dozens of nurses and doctors on duty!! God forbid you maybe in a situation like this on a weekend and you have so little options as to where rush your little treasure in a severe medical condition!
