"A&E department"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

we returned to A&E today from registrar advice on Thursday when we were there with our daughter. Absolutely disgusted 4 hours there. only 1 doctor who spent most of her time on the computer. other doctor had to go on another ward. my daughter had numbing cream on for her blood tests. by the time they did it after I kept asking the numbing cream had worn off and my daughter was a nervous wreck getting blood tests. very bad organisation this hospital. told the nurse we are not waiting for results. got a call 2 hours later from doctor giving results. she didn't even know that my daughter originally came in on Thursday for reaction to cervical cancer injection. apparently not on system? pull yourself together Queen Elizabeth. why wait so long to take blood tests. nurses and doctor just sitting in office because I kept checking

We're sorry to hear you've clearly had such a poor experience at the hospital. Whilst waits are a part of diagnosing our patients, we do strive for all of our staff to keep patient updated on why there are delays, which hasn't happened on this occasion. We'd like the opportunity to try and learn from some of the other points that you make, so please do contact our PALS (patient advice and liaison service) team on 0800 953 0667 or pals@ghnt.nhs.uk so that we can record your comments officially.
