I was hurriedly brought in by my husband and gave birth within minutes. I was clearly in shock as it was so quick and long before my due date, yet the staff were great. They were supportive and really helped me to deal with the trauma of a bit of an unexpected birth! They said I could go home after 3 hours, but asked me if I wanted to stay for a bit longer, to have a rest before I went home. As a first time mother, it was just what I needed. I didn't sleep but I felt safe knowing there were staff around to help me. They were so supportive of breastfeeding also. A nurse helped me, and kept helping me until we were able to do it. She refused to let me leave until I felt comfortable, which was excellent, because I so easily could have decided to give up. I have now opted to go there again with my next baby. On an unrelated note, the parking is so much better than LRI, 20 minutes to get there, park and get in to the ward vs 45 minutes for the same at the LRI, even though I live only 5 minutes from there.
"Fantastic, very supportive"
