"Ridiculous wait to start cancer treatment"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

My father was diagnosed in September 2014 with cancer following a trip to A&E. 2 months later still no treatment has started just further exploring being carried out. Very disappointed with this time delay, must not good enough.

Dear Madam, Thank you for taking time to share your experience. It is so important that patients and families are able to raise their concerns with us. I am so sorry that your father has had a poor experience of emergency care. I can understand how difficult it must have been for you to witness your father in a great deal of pain and feeling so distressed. It also saddens me greatly to know that he felt upset and embarrassed during his time in RATU. Thank you for acknowledging the kindness and the care that receptionist and doctor gave to your father. I am very sorry that this was the case for him at every stage of his care with us. There are a number of aspects of your story that concern me. Due to your review being anonymous it is very difficult for me to provide you with a more personalised response. To help me do this, I would be grateful if you would contact me at annie.laverty@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk With thanks again, Annie
