About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

My husband called 999 as I experienced feelings of being unwell and have been previously admitted with suspected TIAs. The crew who turned out included two ladies who took me in previously plus one lady. I had just taken two dispersible 75mg. They did obs and watched, went through my medical history that we could manage and concluded by phoning my GP and making an appointment for me on Friday morning. The crew were professional and efficient and had a brilliant manner especially as the two that attended my previously knew they were in the same room with a potentially violent mental health patient and diabetic type 2 my husband with, like me a history of abusive situations only manifesting differently. On the previous occasion to QA with the two ladies they as a crew were directed to take me to the wrong admissions area where the doctor in charge got angry with them in front of me in an accusatory manner when it was hardly their fault. You see, my symptoms are confused by the fact that I have a mental health diagnosis. That is the nub of it. But today the crew were excellent even if my medical paperwork history was not :)

Thank you so much for sending us such a detailed account of your recent admission to the Emergency Department. We are so pleased that you found staff to be professional and efficient and that whilst your medical paperwork history was not correct, the crew remained professional and you found their treatment to be excellent. Please be assured that I will of course pass your kind words on to them but if you would like to write a special thank you, then please feel free to contact our Patient, Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at: Freepost RSGB-CJUS-YAXK Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust Patient Liaison and Advice Service Health Information Office Queen Alexandra Hospital Southwick Hill Road Cosham, Portsmouth PO6 3LY
