"Don't hold NHS business meetings in a cafe"

About: Manchester PCT

(as other),

The Cafe Nero Bar at Piccadilly Station, Manchester, seems to be a popular haunt for NHS staff holding meetings.

I have learned much about how the service is run and also about the way that they negotiate contracts and deal with suppliers.

Please hold meetings in meeting rooms where they should be, and consider employing professional procurement and negotiating staff - who do not tell suppliers who have not signed any contracts that 'they will almost certainly get the business'.

This is an ongoing problem.

Dear ff,

NHS North West Strategic Health Authority would like to thank you for your posting this is obviously a serious concern and it is quite right and proper to bring it to our attention.

As a result of your communication we are taking appropriate steps to ensure staff are reminded of their responsibility to observe the correct use of meeting spaces and procurement policies, and would like to reassure you that we take very seriously our obligation to use openness and transparency in our contract procurement.

If you would like to contact us further on this issue you can do so either via this website or by e mail to website@northwest.nhs.uk
