I recently had a few days stay on ward 21. The staff on the ward were extremely kind, caring and made my stay more comfortable and relaxing. The best care I have received from nursing staff and I have had a fair few stays in Kingsmill before but had never felt as if the staff actually cared but my stay on ward 21 showed me that there are good nurses and carers. The only negative I have to say is about the pharmacy in the hospital. It took them so long to sort my medicine out to take home after discharge that I had missed two lots of medication and the pain came back worst than ever and the wards staff were unable to help me due to the pharmacy having my drug card. This meant I was moaning with pain for a good period of time until they could help me and lead to another nights stay on the ward. The next day it took over 4 hours for my medication to reach the ward so I could go home. I know this is not the wards fault but the pharmacy's. I had also noticed how difficult it is for the staff to give certain patients the care they need straight away whete needed, when two members of staff are needed for lifting etc due to it being hard to find two free members of staff, they were always so busy. This again is not against ward 21s staff just the situation they are in. Thank you to the staff on ward 21 for your good standard of care.
