"First rate care at Scarborough Hospital"

About: Scarborough General Hospital / Accident and emergency Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Scarborough Hospital as an Accident and Emergency case from Oliver's Mount Race Circuit. I had fractured my shoulder blade, three ribs and had life threatening internal bleeding. The paramedics at the scene were fantastic (even though it hurt a bit!) I was transferred to Scarborough Hospital by The Yorkshire Ambulance Service quickly and effectively. The care I received was excellent (despite a lack of beds in ICU). The extra efforts from the staff enabled me to get ICU care for 48 hours in theatre recovery where my condition was monitored around the clock. This enabled 'conservative management' to retain my spleen. I was discharged in 7 days and hopefully now well on the road to recovery. My sincere thanks to all the staff from A&E, General Surgery, Theatre Recovery and Beech Ward.
