"Breast Care Unit"

About: Leighton Hospital

I arrived for a mammogram one year on after receiving a diagnosis of Breast cancer. My appointment was 9.15 but as I was early the mammogram took place at 9.05. This was really helpful as the whole process is emotionally traumatic. The staff member completed the mammogram and made the experience as positive as it could be. She was friendly, calm and professional. Once the procedure was complete, I was directed to return to the waiting room whilst she asked the doctor to look at my mammogram immediately in order to give me the results there and then. She reassured me that she would call me from the waiting room anyway to give me my results and that I should not read anything into this. This was extremely sensitive, thank you. As she was smiling she said I had the all clear for another year. I feel I have received first-rate treatment in all respects and no other hospital could do better than Leighton.
