"Still waiting for someone to get back to me after six months"

Earlier this year, I felt that I couldn't go on with life and I felt suicidal and was ready to end my life, thankfully before that happened, I had a moment of clarity and sought help from my GP.
Soon after this, while still being quite fragile, I attended an assessment interview with someone from what I believe to be the NHS Fife Clinical Psychology Department. The assessment went quite well and help was offered to me. However I was told there was a long waiting list.
However, it is now almost 6 months later - and I still have not heard from the NHS Fife Clinical Psychology Department! Now I don't know if this is the normal waiting time, but can someone from that department please explain why it is taking so long for an appointment and why no-one has even bothered to contact me to explain why there has been such a long wait?
I'm basically writing this out of frustration, while I wouldn't say I'm suicidal anymore, there are days when life is such a struggle I can start to feel that way again which is only compounded by the fact that no-one from NHS Fife Clinical Psychology has bothered to even contact me or have given me an appointment for treatment yet. It's the thought of having no help and being stuck in a rut because of this lack of help that is making my life difficult/hard to bear.
Can someone just please let me know why I'm waiting so long and how long it can possibly take to get treatment? Some hope is better than no hope, with no hope being exactly how I feel with regards to NHS Fife actually treating me.....
