"My relatives A&E experience"

About: Bronglais General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

A relative (who is 77, diabetic and registered disabled) was emergency admitted to A&E in November 2014 at 14: 00 in the afternoon.

As the A&E was really full he was taken to a small Minor Injuries room which was unheated - he was on a short trolley even though he is over six feet tall so could not lay down even though he was chronically giddy and sick and only covered by a thin cover. They did bring him a blanket after complaint.

He is diabetic so I had to go and complain at 18: 30 that he had taken no food for a long time and no hot drink.

Nurse brought a tray at 19: 00 with a bowl of stone cold soup that was set solid and a meal of four bean something and chips - also cold and uneatable.

A doctor came to see him at 19. 30 and when we complained to her she agreed that the meal was disgusting and inedible.

He was moved to a ward within A/E just before 20: 00. I was told I could come and visit him the next morning at 11. 30 at the A&E ward, when the medical team had assessed him.

I found out next morning he was moved late that night to a main ward late that night after they had warmed him up.

His treatment since then has been excellent. No complaints there.
