Rushed to get to the hospital in time for an outpatient appointment in the gastro clinic. The board in the waiting room said the clinic was running 20 minutes late. It was actually an hour late by the time I saw the consultant. Not impressed. I don't expect things to run bang on time but I think an hour was too long. In comparison, I attended another consultant's clinic a week later for a different problem and was seen bang on time. As per my previous experiences at this hospital, there seem to be lots of staff - student nurses, nursing staff etc. - either standing around doing nothing or continually wandering up and down the corridors. This hospital needs a good shake up. All I ever hear about the NHS is how over worked everyone is. That's not been my experience at all. It always seems to me that there are far too many staff. If you are just stood in a corridor then you really don't have anything to do. On my way into the hospital, I passed some offices and there was a member of admin/clerical staff sat at her desk reading a magazine. Nice to know they're so busy.
