"Endoscopy without sedation."

About: Heartlands Hospital

Was very nervous about this procedure as I hate being sick/gagging. Due to moving house I decided not to have a sedative and just the throat spray. The procedure itself lasted about 5 minutes and to my dismay I did gag several times but due to the suction this was manageable. The nurses were absolutely incredible and I could not have done it so smoothly without them. They were absolutely fabulous. I was able to get my results and go straight home and all in all It was okay. Don't be worried as they do this procedure 10000's of times. It is uncomfortable and there will be gagging but it is over before you know it and is great to get peace of mind. The staff make the whole experience a million times better.
