"Dermatology - Ashton Centre"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Reception and nursing staff - are wonderful, very professional and polite. Is it not customary and best practise to allow an under 18 year old female to be accompanied by a parent, if they feel more comfortable? Is it not customary to ask if a patient if they mind students being present during a consultation discussion, especially when there are four students already in the room ? I would suggest that the Consultant has additional training in terms of his communication skills with young people, I do not feel that arrogance has any place within the modern NHS. It is not that we disagreed with his advice - it is the delivery of his patronising words that needs tailoring.

Thank you for this feedback. We would indeed expect that patients are asked if they are happy for students to be present and for a chaperone to accompany a patient if required. We apologise for any anxiety caused.
