"Care has defiantly improved"

Having had a number of admissions on this ward, I have observed a vast improvement in the standard of care provided. Communication between nurses and healthcare assistants has defiantly improved resulting in greater consistency in the standard of care provided. It would however be refreshing to see registered nurses spending time on the ward rather than being bogged down with paper work in the office. The current consultant is fair understanding and listens well to the patient's point of view. This is a vast improvement on the outdated and rather dictatorial approach employed by the previous consultant psychiatrist. The ward is very clean and morning meetings involving service users help to quickly and effectively address any areas of concern. During my last admission the Occupational therapy department offered a varied programme of activities, providing distraction and therapeutic enjoyment. I am however aware that staff levels within the OT department are variable with maternity leave and sickness absence meaning that schedule OT activities have to be cancelled at the last minute which can be very distressing for patients and impact on the time it takes to recover and get home. Overall I would recommend this hospital to friends and family, it's never nice being admitted to an acute psychiatric hospital, however, in my experience, the staff at green lane do all they can to make such a difficult time as comfortable as possible. Thankyou so much!
