I am a female who has been suffering for a number of years from post-traumatic stress disorder relating to a childhood sexual abuse situation that had happened for a number of years, I was affected severely by this traumatic event, and it has affected my current relationship with my partner in the bedroom department. I couldn't get out of the front door due to fear of my abuser being out there and I have been scared of the outdoors ever since.
I waited for my therapy treatment and I finally received my treatment needed, since having this cognitive behaviour therapy, I have been more outgoing than I have ever been, I have gained some confidence back in myself. I used to cover myself up in baggy clothing, now I have my confidence back I dress just like a normal person my age would! I also used to have bad anger problems because of what happened to me but I have now learned to control that a lot better than before. Since receiving treatment I used to weigh in at 15 and a half stone and since I have had the treatment and getting out more often I have lost some weight and now weigh 13, 6!
Cognitive behavioural therapy helps you do things you never thought were possible and this therapy has certainly helped me. I still have some anxiety related problems but those problems are now halved. You know what they say? A problem shared is a problem solved.
