"Oldham Hosptial Hand Therapy Clinic - fantastic"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

About 5 years ago I tore tendons in my thumb and wrist resulting in a trip to A and E (very good care except when I went to X-ray and they forgot about me for about 5 hours!) and then a cast for 6 weeks. After removal of my cast i was given out-patient appointments for physio and support at Royal Oldham Hosptial's Hand Therapy clinic. Not only were the staff excellent, expert, friendly, helpful, considerate, informative - everything that you would wish for from care professionals, but the facilities were also great. I had several weeks of visits and home exercises. My painful injury healed well. Now, many years later, I still have complete movement, full strength etc and wouldn't know I had an injury. Great job - thanks to all involved and I am very grateful to this day and beyond.

I am especially grateful because my positive experience is not echoed every where else. My sister had an almost identical injury about 3 weeks later. She lives on the Wirral and attended a different hospital, with no outpatient support once the cast was removed. She still has occasional pain and doesn't have full strength in her arm.
