At 79 with a poor history of previous cancers I was referred to the Aortic treatment unit and speedily met my surgeon and without delay had all the necessary scans and I and my wife were consulted fully and an Aortic Valve Replacement decided upon. I had my AVR on 15th of September and recovered and left Elm Ward on the 19th. I have nothing but praise, not only for the surgical and nursing teams but also for everybody who contributed, too many to mention. At all times I was treated with every consideration and lots of positive help....my natural grumpiness never needed to surface and I have no hesitation in re-assuring anybody who is maybe facing a stay in this wonderful Hospital. Incidentally I am now under treatment in the Lung Cancer department and finding the same brilliantly high levels of service and treatment.
