"Main reception"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

I have just asked for some directions from the main reception and received a rude and incomprehensible reply. On asking her to repeat she lookked at me and rolled her eyes. Heaven help anyone hard of hearing or with learning difficulties. Thankfully when I inevitably got lost a very helpful nurse practitioner was there!

We're sorry that you haven't had a good experience at the QE. As part of a mandatory training session for staff, they are asked to always take the time to help patients who may have additional communication requirements, which obviously didn't happen on this occasion. We will pass your comments along to the department involved.
