Recently, following advice from the 111 Service, my wife drove me to A&E at Stoke Mandeville where we arrived at around 3am. After triage and a consultation with the duty doctor Stuart Caldwell, the very efficient staff on duty then carried out three ECGs, a chest X-ray and blood and urine tests following which Dr Caldwell diagnosed pneumonia. I was given IV antibiotics and, having promised I would return if things did not improve, was allowed home that morning.
My wife and I were both very impressed by the cheerful professionalism of all the staff we met in the middle of the night and have nothing but praise for them - even if Tuesday is a quiet night!
"I have nothing but praise for them"
