"Another patient got into bed with me"

About: North Yorkshire and York PCT York Hospital

(as the patient),

I have had to sign myself out of ward 34 York district hospital, against the advice of a doctor.

I had been placed in a bed next to a mentally ill patient, who jumped in bed with me in the middle of the night, this was after a day of verbal abuse from her. She accused me of stealing her cigarettes, money etc.

I was frightened of her and could not go back to bed. I spent the night on a chair in the corridor until a nurse eventually offered me 3 chairs to sleep on in the staff room at 3 in the morning.

There was a second mentally ill patient kept coming over to me, she thought i was an angel and that my partner was a murderer. For 3 nights i had to sleep with one eye open.

At the end of my tether i explained all this to the doctor who laughed about it and said just go to bed she might have calmed down.

I would like to add the nurses were as stressed out as me and were not sympathetic to me and what i was going through. I can only describe their attitude as clever.
