"Had To Go Privately"

About: Salisbury District Hospital

My consultant wanted to do facet joint injections himself as a test to see whether I would be suitable for a particular further procedure which he would do himself. I agreed to this having confidence in him from experience. However having waited in pain for 5 months and being advised that it would be another 5 months before I would likely be able to see him I had no other choice but to pay to see him privately. These test injections have gone well and it looks likely that I will be left with no other choice but to pay have the subsequent operation privately because of the waiting time again. I don't blame him I blame Salisbury NHS for the wait. I haven't been able to work for 15 years and it's hard for me financially to go privately, but it's too painful to wait for Salisbury District Hospital to catch up with their waiting list.

Thank you for your comment We’re sorry to hear you’ve had to wait for this treatment and reluctantly decided to pay for private treatment. Perhaps you could get in touch with our customer care department on 0800 374208 or customer.care@salisbury.nhs.uk so we can understand what has happened?
