"I was very reassured to have the 111 service support"

About: Croydon Health Services NHS Trust Harmoni / NHS 111

(as the patient),

I had an extensive operation in St George’s hospital, on discharge from the hospital I told them I would be staying with my step-son but then decided to go home where I live alone.

I was not given a lot of guidance when I was discharged, I thought I would manage. However, during the early hours of the morning I was woken to find the catheter had leaked and the bed was wet. I called 111 for advice, they answered the call very quickly and told me they would send a district nurse to see me – I said I would be fine until the morning.

The following morning the nurse came and went through everything with me regarding what I would need to do after the operation. She put me at my ease and was most helpful. The whole sequence of events from making the call to the 111 service to the district nurse leaving was great, I was very reassured to have this support,

Dear Decent 731

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your experience. Whilst I am sorry to learn that you experienced problems after your discharge from St George's Hospital, I am very pleased that both NHS 111 and our district nurses were able to assist promptly.

I have passed on your kind words to our community nursing team - NHS 111 is a responsibility of NHS England, so I have also forwarded your comments to them. I hope your recovery at home goes well.
