About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency East Surrey Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

After breaking my hand and wrist and being treated so marvelously in A&E, I thought a few weeks of plaster and it would mend - the doctor in Trauma OP said "no you need an op" so just over 28 hours later an operating slot and bed was found and 10 hours later I am being operated on and it was a Saturday. How can anyone fault that!

The only thing that could be improved would be softer chairs in SAU.

Woodlands Ward is such a happy ward thanks to the caring nurses, they even sung happy birthday to one in-patient, they went above and beyond for patients. There were elderly patients placed there as it was the weekend but the nurses were so considerate. I mustn't forget the tea and food giver, I don't know his title but what a lovely person and again his sensitivity with us all and the elderly was wonderful and so pleasant to see.

Thank you for posting such nice comments about East Surrey Hospital and the Trauma and Orthopaedic department and Woodland Ward in particular. We are very proud of all our departments and wards but you may be interested to know that the Ward Manager of Woodland Ward recently won one of our Annual Staff Awards - a recognition of the level of care that you saw when you were a patient.

I'm also pleased that you felt that the care given covered the whole team, including the ward host, they play such an important role in ensuring patients are cared for and I'm pleased that this was so evident.

Your kind words will be shared with the team who I am sure will be delighted to read them.

I will also look at your comment regarding the SAU chairs
