"No-one wants to know about my concerns"

I went for a routine smear test which resulted in damage to my pelvic floor, nerve damage and worst of all. damage to both my adductor longus. Not 18 months have passed and I'm still not completely recovered. I think that this may be due to lack of care when I needed it to start with.

The only reason I found out what the damage was, is due to being referred to occupational health at work. The surgery kept telling me it was age, or anything really, in my view, to cover up the injuries.

I tried advising the cancer screening centre, having found out what went wrong, e.g. there are different speculums, and methods and so the test can vary. There is also such a thing as an inverted uterus. I advised that women should understand what is going on with the test and that this may encourage more women to have the test.

In my experience, no one wants to know. In my opinion, the right treatment for the injuries were delayed for a year, and, to me, the emphasis was on cover up, not helping me. My medical notes are inaccurate. I noticed for example, that when I went back to the surgery after four weeks and said I couldn't go back to work, I was told by the surgery that I had to go. This made matters worse in fact for my injuries. However, the notes said that I was anxious to get back to work. At it's worst, I almost passed out with the pain trying to lift a little carrier bag, I could hardly eat, or move at all and had to ask neighbours for help.

There needs to be somewhere people can go when a mistake etc, occurs, how about putting the patient first?
