"Worrying wait for biopsy results"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Leicestershire and Lincolnshire

(as the patient),

I have now been waiting several weeks and months for a cervical biopsy result and I have been going round in circles trying to find out where they are. I phoned my GP and the hospital in early Autumn and was told they had only just started sending out August results. I contacted Leicester Royal patient services and was told a letter was sent on a certain date- I have never received anything. I contacted my GP today and collected a copy of the letter but this wasn't the biopsy result- it was simply a summary of the procedure the consultant carried out! Where on earth are my biopsy results? It's really poor and extremely worrying- and I can see from other posts that excessively delayed results seem to be the norm. At such a worrying time for people, we shouldn't have to be chasing these results. It's such a shame as the staff and consultants at the gynaecology clinic are really lovely, warm and professional.

Response from University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

Dear JRPF,

We are incredibly sorry that you are still waiting for your biopsy results, and fully appreciate this is a worrying time for you. It is a shame, as you have kindly mentioned how caring the staff were in the clinic, which we will of course feed back to them.

If you could please send your details (name, address, DOB and details of your appointment) to gynaecology matron rachelle.bowden@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. If you would prefer you call also call Rachelle on 0116 258 5663.

Best wishes
