"I'd like more advice on dealing with miscarriage "

About: St John's Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I have been through two missed miscarriages within the last 9 months both happened at around the 12 week stage and for the most part happened naturally at home after ultrasounds detected a problem. Both times I attended St John's hospital Livingston.

At times the service I received was excellent but a bit of inconsistency with the different departments/members of staff I have seen. I wanted to leave a comment as although they can try to explain what a miscarriage will feel like/what you will witness more emphasis should be put on this. I also think they should recommend items that will be handy to have at home in the same way you are advised what items to bring to hospital if you are fortunate to have a healthy pregnancy.

I found having puppy pads on the bathroom floor/bed where I was lying and the thickest sanitary towels I could find as must haves. Baby wipes and antibacterial wipes were also essential. Even if a hospital could put together a kit that was available to purchase with some of these items would be a great help as I know the towels/pads they use are of much greater absorbency than what is readily available to me to purchase.

I unfortunately am becoming an expert and this is what I think would have been useful to me.
