I visited A and E on 5/11/2014 and arrived at 8.30am with an ankle injury. I was initially greeted by the receptionist who was very sympathetic and helpful which put me at ease. On giving my details I was asked to take a seat in the waiting area which was almost full so I thought I would have ages to wait until I was seen. I had been waiting around twenty minutes before I went to see the triage nurse. The triage nurse nurse seemed caring and thorough. She even examined my ankle and then sent me to the x-ray room straight away which was easy to find and clearly marked as she instructed (a clear marked line on the floor indicating where to go). When I was waiting for an x-ray I only had to wait a few minutes to wait before it was my turn. The staff in the x-ray department treated me with dignity and respect and were very thorough. I was asked to return to the waiting area where I waited a while. The department had clear information about waiting times so I thought I was in for a very long wait as the screen said it would be a 4 hour wait and I expected that more urgent cases would be treated before me so I wasn't bothered by this at all. After around 30 minutes I was called to sit and wait in a separate waiting area before my x-rays were assessed. I was waiting around 15 minutes or so. I was then called into a side room and my ankle examined again and was asked about my symptoms again. The staff member on duty who examined my x-rays was also very thorough and diagnosed the problem and advised me what to do next. On the whole I was in the department 1 and a half hours. I was very impressed by my visit to A and E and found the whole department to be very efficient.
