"Ward 8"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

My 87 year old mum has just spent 5 days on ward 8 after having a fall at her home. On the whole I foung the nursing staff caring and helpful, one nurse in particular. Nothing was too much bother and although its a very busy ward, this nurse always found time for you. I'm sure there are other nurses on the ward who are as caring as this one, but she stood out. It's a shame that some of the domestics were so scary! Well, just one actually, but generally the staff and the ward were very good. I felt our opinions were valued.

Dear Sir / Madam, Thanks for taking the time to post a review of the care that your Mum has received recently on ward 8. I know the ward manager Clare will be reassured that your views as relatives were respected and listened to. It is also comforting to know that your Mum was cared for with kindness. Whilst this was true of most staff, it is naturally disappointing to learn that it wasn't true for all staff in the way that we would expect. If you were able to share a few more details we can raise this with the team - anonymously if you'd prefer - we would also be in a position to especially thank the nurse who stood out for you with regards to her compassionate ways. My email is annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk if you'd like to get in touch. I hope your Mum is doing well back at home. With our thanks for bringing this to our attention, Annie
