My daughter was seen by her GP in Nairn in late October and was referred for an urgent x-ray of her wrist. We received a telephone call from Nairn the next day for the x-ray to be done. The radiographer informed us that the GP would have results in 7 - 10 days. Very impressed with such a speedy service. Unfortunately 17 days on, despite the x-ray being urgent, the results have not yet been reported.
I have been informed by the receptionist at Nairn healthcare group that unfortunately the radiology department at Raigmore have a backlog and it often takes up to 3 weeks for x-rays to be reported. I am well aware of the pressures on the service but I do wonder why scanning is being done when there is a significant backlog to be reported. I would much rather have waited longer for the appointment and to have received the results sooner after the x-ray was taken. I am also a little annoyed that we were told that results would be back with the GP in 7 - 10 days when this clearly is not the case and we should never have been told this.
