I am a transgender woman living in Widnes in the North West.
Recently I have been trying to begin my journey through the treatments and my transistion but I have been let down by the NHS.
Living in Widnes my closest (and only reachable) point of call for me to be able to even begin the psychiatric portion of my treatment is Liverpool Trans Support Service and finally after a while of battling with people over the phone, face to face and via email I finally found that my referral had been sent to them (3 months after my initial appointment).
Upon calling TSS Liverpool I was told that due to a lack of funding from the NHS I have no hopes of receiving treatment there due to living outside Liverpool.
I have been denied my treatment just because I don't live in the same postcode, Widnes is pegged as the gateway to Merseyside and is supposed to be merging with the Liverpool area soon but it seems that it's not enough so that my last chance at being able to live happily and not with the horrible mental torture thrown at me on a daily basis on end.
I just wish I knew why, I am literally a 20 minute train ride from central Liverpool and a 2 - 3 hour drive from the only other point of contact this side of the country.
Yet when I was too scared to come out and was simply trying to make my problems go away with anti-depressants the doctors were all to happy to throw any amount of pills and chemicals at me every two weeks.
It seems that I have been abandoned completely here.
"Being denied my last attempt at happiness."
