My father (91)was admitted as a 999 case after collapsing at home. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. After 2 days they said he was being discharged as fit to go home., even though he still had the pneumonia. The staff were told that the home he was in was damp and had mould on the walls, their answer was that it was not their problem. When we asked to see the social worker, this was not allowed as my father did not need assessing as he could go to the toilet by himself. The matron of the respiratory department was too busy to see us and the doctor that was discharging Dad was busy. A (very) junior doctor came and was as full of waffle as the nurses. Dad is the sole carer for mum who has dementia and is not able to lift her or care for her. The staff in this hospital gave the impression that the patients were just an encumberance . I would NOT recommend this hospital to anyone.
