An elderly friend of mine suffering with heart failure recently spent two weeks at Colchester General Hospital. He doesn’t have any close family and I am his next of kin. He was taken to hospital by ambulance after a fall and they treated him with utmost care. He then spent 10 hours in A&E, in which the doctors and nurses tried their best to stabilise him. That evening he was moved to EAU for the night, followed by almost two weeks in the Peldon ward. He is very scared of receiving medical treatment, which was one of my biggest concerns. Nevertheless, the doctors took all the time he needed to be reassured and alternative medication was discussed if the ones prescribed gave him undesirable side-effects. Since then he has been religiously taking his medication without too much anxiety of side-effects. All the departments he went through appeared extremely busy, but this did not at all impact on the care he required. Sadly, my friend’s medical condition is not improving, but the great care received in Colchester General Hospital made a real difference for him. Thank you!
